LESSON 01 · 4 MINUTE READ

Choose the decision before the seed

Turn a growing problem into a question you can measure. Decide what would justify changing varieties.

Start with your farm

Write down your crop, growing location, production system and intended market. A promising catalogue description is a starting point; it does not tell you how a variety will perform in your own conditions.

Make the question specific

Choose a practical decision, such as whether a candidate gives more saleable fruit during your target harvest window. Separate the trait you want from the result you will actually measure. Avoid trying to answer every question with one small planting.

Set a decision rule

Before planting, note the quality your buyer accepts, the harvest period you will compare and the cost or benefit that would matter to you. Record these as your own targets rather than a guarantee from AgriCart.
