SEED-BUYING BASICS
Read the label with confidence.
- Pack size
- Compare equal counts or weights. Seed count and seed weight cannot be converted without suitable variety or lot information.
- Seed lot
- A batch reference connects the seed to supplied test information and your purchase. Keep the label and order reference.
- Germination
- Use the supplied test result and date as evidence. Germination and establishment in your field are different measures.
- Treatment
- Check the stated treatment and follow the product label and handling instructions.
- Growing environment
- Open-field or protected-growing descriptions provide context; they do not guarantee suitability for your conditions.
