We will not knowingly sell genetically modified (GMO) seed.
AgriCart is committed to offering seed developed through conventional plant breeding and to helping growers understand their seed choices. Our GMO-free commitment applies to the seed we offer, including conventionally bred F1 hybrids, open-pollinated varieties and heirlooms.
This is our seed-sourcing commitment. It is not an independent certification or a claim that every seed lot has been laboratory tested. Product and lot-specific statements depend on the supporting supplier information available. The promise applies to seed, not to every category of agricultural supplies sold by AgriCart.
Understanding seed types
Genetically modified seed
GMO seed is developed using genetic engineering to alter a plant's DNA. Genetic engineering differs from conventional crossing and selection.
F1 hybrid seed
An F1 hybrid is the first generation from a planned cross between selected parent lines. Conventional hybrid breeding is not genetic engineering. The F1 label alone does not establish a seed lot's GMO status.
Open-pollinated seed
Open-pollinated varieties reproduce through natural pollination, including self-pollination or pollination by insects or wind. With suitable isolation and selection, saved seed generally retains the variety's characteristics.
Heirloom seed
Heirlooms are open-pollinated varieties maintained over generations. Not every open-pollinated variety is an heirloom.
Choose with the product information
GMO status, organic certification and seed treatment are separate matters. Our promise does not mean seed is organic, untreated or guaranteed to germinate. Check each product's variety, treatment and available lot information before buying. Contact AgriCart if you need a supplier declaration or clarification about a specific product.
